Millie's Story {06.07.2012}

 The morning after my due date, I called into my Doctors office to schedule induction.  The next day the nurse called me back and induction was scheduled for Wednesday night at 8PM.  As Wednesday rolled around and we still had no baby, I started to prepare to go to the Hospital that night and made arrangements for William.  That afternoon, I started having weak, sporadic contractions and in hopes to trigger labor on my own I walked on the treadmill for an hour, bounced on the exercise ball, did squats and even spicy food.  This baby girl was not budging, so after dropping William off with my parents and a blessing from Lee, we headed to the Hospital.

We were greeted by the Labor and Delivery Nurses and directed to the big and nice room.  SCORE!  With William there were lots of ladies giving birth at the same time and we got left with the tiny room so we were thankful that there were no other women in labor (besides a C-Section going on at the time) and we were thankful for the upgrade!

My AMAZING Nurse was Rosario.  We forgot to get a picture of her an it is killing me.  She was the greatest Nurse -we LOVED her and I told her that for the next baby, I was going to request her as my Nurse.  So if any of my friends out there are planning a delivery at Mountain View Hospital, request her!

By 9PM we were ready to get Oxytocin in my system and after a couple pricks in my wrist we were rolling.  This is the time that I had started to get nervous.  I had heard so many horror stories about being induced and how painful it was that I was really not looking forward to laboring in a bed.  I do not handle pain well.  Like at all!  Well, let me just tell you, my worry was put to rest pretty quick.  I hardly felt anything.  By 11PM, the Anesthesiologist was hooking me up with some drugs and after that kicked in, Nurse Rosario ruptured my membranes.  She expected me to be delivering by 2:30AM, but to her surprise, I labor for a long time.  My Mom made it to the Hospital at 3AM and while Lee took a nap on the couch, my Mom kept me company.  (By the way, this is my second baby, both where I labored all night long and into the morning.  There is NOTHING on TV at that time!!  They should have a DVD/Blue Ray player just for women like me to help pass the time.  I'm just saying.)

Around 4AM I started to feel my contractions again and literally felt the baby drop.  Ummm.... NO!!  "Where is the Numbing Doctor?!?!"  The Anesthesiologist was called back to give me a boost of drugs and everything went N.U.M.B.  Since there were no other women in labor, I had 3 Nurses in the room, including Rosario.  I believe one of the other Nurses said her name was Sherry and I didn't catch the others name.  Sherry and Rosario held my legs since they were jello and I couldn't feel a thing waist down, while the other nurse took my camera from Lee and became our personal Photographer.  (All these images are because of her.)  Dr. Swainston showed up and we were ready to go.........

While I was pushing, my Nurses kept cheering me on and would say, "You're doing so good!"  I'm glad, considering I couldn't feel myself push."  Then they would tell me how small her head was and that it was covered in lots of hair.  This is when I started to loose it.  I was already crying, just knowing I was minutes, maybe seconds away from seeing my little girl.  After about 5 or 6 pushes and at 4:33AM, Millie was placed on my chest -it was love at first sight and I could hardly see her through my tears but I knew she was beautiful.

The Nurses got her to cry and started to clean her up as they commented on how cute and tiny she was and how she had a sweet dimple on her right cheek.  She weighed in at 6lbs. 6oz. (the same as William) and 18 1/2 inches long.

She is such a good baby, has a soft harmless cry and loves to eat!  She, like William, has a tongue tie so we are formula feeding and I pump as much as I can, when I can.  She has a sweet dimple to compliment her even sweeter smile.  To me she changes looks everyday.  One day she'll look just like William, while on others I see glimpses of me in there.

We knew we wanted her middle name to be Louise, after Lee's Grandmother, but coming up with her first name too some time.  I got her name from Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.  This was my all time favorite movie when I was a little girl and continues to be at the top of my favorites list.  When I was little, I would put on one of my fluffy dresses and run to my parents and say, "I want to watch my Millie."  The name popped into my head one day, it was so random an when I mentioned it to Lee, we knew pretty quick that it was a contender.  We placed our top 4 names on 4 separate pieces of paper and had William pick (just for fun).  2 out of 3 times he picked Millie.  When we got down to our top 2 names, we knew Millie was it, and I have been in love with the name ever since!

We are so grateful to have our Little Miss Millie apart of our family.  She is perfect, has captured our hearts completely and we love her so much.  Even William is warming up to her faster than I expected.  He likes to give her loves (Kisses),  rest his head against hers and holds his arms out when he wants to hold her.  Yesterday, we were driving home and Millie started to cry a little, and William got very concerned.  He said, "Oh No!  Sad!"  as he tried to reach for her.  My kids are so cute, I am one lucky Mama.
