Today we celebrated for two special occasions for both of our kids. Today is Williams 2nd Birthday, and this morning, Lee with the assistance of family and friends who all hold the Priesthood gave Millie her baby blessing.
To say that I love baby blessings is one thing, but when it comes to my babies, it is an understatement! Almost as soon as we found out that Millie would be joining our family, I started in on baby blessing mode and started planning what she would wear. I did the same thing with William. Yes, I am a big NERD, I know.
I found this 3 month old dress in ivory at the Thrift Store for $3.00 and when I laid eyes on it, the wheels in my brain started spinning. I knew exactly how I wanted it to look. First I had to pull the dress apart, (a little bit of panic happened) and make it fit my tiny newborn. I love lace so I purchased some pretty lace in ivory and attached it to the bottom of the dress and made sleeves from the lace as well. I added a frilly trim around the waist to give it a finished look. It took me about 3 hours total. Not bad considering the fights my sewing machine and I had. The final result is exactly what I had in mind, and my pretty baby makes it look even better! :) I purchased her headband from an etsy.com shop, and I made her bracelet.
Lee gave Millie a very beautiful blessing. I took notes so that I can share it with her someday.
When the kids and I got home from church, Millie took a nap in her swing and William helped me bake his birthday cupcakes. We both liked the "licking everything clean" part the best. Just check out those smiles!
Later that evening we packed up everything and headed to my parents for family dinner with the birthday festivities to follow. William is obsessed with all things trucks and cars right now, so I made a little display for his cupcakes.
After dinner, it was time for PRESENTS!!! This is when William started to realize that maybe Birthdays really are fun! I may have been a little more excited to see his reaction to the gifts he was going to receive. He LOVED everything that he got and I am thrilled. It was so fun to see him so happy. Thank you to everyone for coming and celebrating with us.
