Two and a half years ago, my sister Jennie and her husband Kevin sadly learned that they could not have kids of their own, so they set out on the adventure of adoption. I can't begin to imagine how that must have taken a toll on them. It took us close to a year to get pregnant with William and it nearly did me in. About 3 weeks ago that all changed. They were contacted by their agency that they had been selected to be parents. They met with the birth mom and made the necessary arrangements for the big arrival in the next few months. Yesterday morning they got the call..... a month early!! The birth mom did not know what she was having so neither did Jennie and Kevin. When the baby was born, the birth Grandma came out and said to my sister, "You have a baby girl!" My sister broke down crying because she has always wanted a little girl, and now she had one. Shortly after that they started making phone calls to all the family. We were all shocked because they never told any of us that they had been selected 3 weeks earlier. What a fun surprise!! Her name is Karlie Diane Widdison, and she weighed in at 6lbs. 13oz. and 19 1/4 in. long. So far she has dark hair and blue eyes. She is Caucasian and 1/4 Filipino. She is going to be one beautiful little girl. Congratulation again Jennie and Kevin!!!
