Under Quarantine

A few months back we received a piece of mail from a plumbing company explaining that the homes in our community were involved in a lawsuit due to wrong plumbing parts throughout our home. Due to the lawsuit, this plumbing company (if you wanted them to) would come in and re pipe your entire home at no cost to you. We Flicks don't know much about plumbing so Lee talked to a friend of ours from a former ward that happens to be a plumber. He said to definitely do it and that this particular company was very good and had a good reputation. A few weeks later, a representative was in our home, cutting a hole under our sink in which he told us, "Yep, you have the wrong pipes." Great. We scheduled a week for the big guys to come and do the job starting last Monday, March 19th lasting until Friday, March 23rd.
THAT WAS A VERY LONG WEEK.
At 6:45 am, some men speaking Spanish were in my house. (I'm really glad I was already dressed since when Lee left for work he told the guys to come on in...... he just didn't tell me.) I grabbed a days worth of diapers, wipes, snacks and clothes, and the play pen and William and I were on our way to my parents for the day. When we returned that night, this is what we came home to.
It looked like our house was under quarantine. Plastic was taped from the ceiling to the floor..... EVERYWHERE!!! We were unable to get to our bed and into many of our cabinets and closets. It was crazy. We knew they were going to be putting up plastic, but it would have been nice to know that is would be THAT MUCH and that we would not be able to sleep there that night. They should have put us up in a hotel. Luckily, my parents live 10-15 minutes away. Lee decided to stay at the house that night. He slept in a sleeping bag in William room. He is a nut! In fact, he stayed at the house all week, while I decided to stay at my parents. Each day is was something new that was being worked on, Drywall, Painting, etc. It gave me headaches, which is why I stayed at my parents with William.
On Friday, there was a final walk though. They showed up bright and early, without notifying me. Oh well, I thought, at least that part was done. Now all I had to do was wait for the house cleaners that they were sending out to finish the job. The day before they gave me a ridiculous window of when to expect them, from noon to 6pm. 6 HOURS? Surely they would come in the early afternoon. Or so I thought. They literally rang my doorbell at 5:59pm. No joke. They did minimal cleaning and didn't even do all that was on the checklist. They stayed for less than 30 minutes, so, yes, I waited around for 6 hours for them to come and do what I could have done easily on my own and had my house already back in order. Geez, I was so annoyed. I am happy to say that now my house is back in order and I am back to being happy and sleeping in my own bed -Thank goodness.
This is what our spare bedroom looked like when we had to move all our "stuff" out of the workers way.
The whole experience was quite stressful on a nesting Mama. Glad it's over!!

Hi Sheree! I am totally freaking out over this blog post because I haven't heard anything about this and our home should be involved because it is in the same neighborhood. Can you please provide me with any details on further investigating this? You can call or email me at 702.501.2128 or stephaniegourley@gmail.com. Thank you in advance!
