This has been a big week for William -last Thursday I started potty training him. It's been more like "Potty Boot Camp" for me! I cut diapers completely and put him straight into undies. That first day I loaded him up on sugary drinks, sugary and salty snacks and food (so that he would drink a lot) and every 15 minutes or so (you have to watch for signs and use your Mommy instinct) sat him on the "Potty". He went just about every time I sat him down too.
This week has not been easy, especially since I have a newborn.... I don't recommend potty training your 2 year old with a newborn by the way, but I had had enough of the diaper picking. William has had his share of accidents, but that is to be expected, and he knows when he has an accident and usually comes to tell you by saying "Uh-Oh!", then we go sit on the potty and he gets the rest out in the potty. Thank goodness it has been a bazillion degrees outside too, wet underwear dry quicker that way! Surprisingly though, I think William is doing really good and I am proud of him. The only thing we have to really work on is him telling us when he has to go, he's not understanding that part, but he will soon enough. He only wears a pull up when we are gone for long periods of time, no access to a potty and at night. So far nap times have been accident free in his undies.
He gets so excited when he goes potty by standing up and yelling "HOORAY!" I am glad he is proud of himself! He rarely wears shorts or pants these days, he just runs around in a shirt and undies, it's easier that way. Plus, I can't get enough of that cute toosh in undies. :)

Go William!! I've been thinking about doing this with Oliver - we did move his potty downstairs, which is a good step, right?! I was waiting until he could talk/communicate a little better, but I don't want to wait too long & lose my chance. *sigh* The idea of another year + of diapers with him kills me.
I know what you mean!! I wish William would understand it more and communicate with me more, but I can't stand him eating his diaper anymore!
